Personal experiments exploring AI as a design and prototyping tool

Building with AI to unlock new creative possibilities and workflows

A year ago, building a working app solo with real interactions, live data, deployed wasn't realistic for me. Today it is and that shift has been significant. It has changed how I think about what a designer can own. AI now sits across my entire workflow: as a thinking partner when I'm untangling a brief, as a prototyping tool when Figma can't express what I mean, and as a collaborator when I want to ship something real. I genuinely enjoy the building - my own tools, apps, and side projects independently which is something that simply wasn't possible before.

Workflows

(In May 2026) I use the Figma MCP to have Claude read my actual design files and act as a sparring partner - interrogating decisions, stress-testing patterns, generating on-brand outputs directly from the design system. My broader workflow: rough in Figma, write a solid PRD with Claude, then build in Lovable, Figma Make, Google AI Studio or Claude Code until I have something real with live data. Going beyond simple click through mockups to mockups with live data and interactive elements. Then GitHub and Vercel to share it. I'm exploring AI image generation (Gemini, Firefly, NanoBanana) and voice AI (ElevenLabs, Parloa) to prototype experience surfaces. I use what fits the problem but mostly I just stay curious - trying updates, breaking things - because curiosity is the only way to stay current. Recent experiments: Presso (pressed flower card generator), Bird Routes (bird migration simulator), Chat with Sid (voice AI agent for my portfolio), Cost of AI (environmental impact tracker), Instapost (instant digital postcards), DualScreen (multi-screen prototyping).
