Making financial consulting a collaborative experience (0→1)

WHAT — Digitizing a paper-based in-person financial consulting experience used by hundreds of advisors across Switzerland WHO — B2B/B2C: Designing for multiple stakeholders from executives to financial planners to customers HOW — Led end-to-end UX/UI design, aligned cross-functional teams, and worked daily with developers to bring complex features to life IMPACT — 2-digit increase in conversion rates among new advisors, 2 hours saved in back-office work per consultation, recognized by the iF Design Awards for UX design.

Designing where trust and financial planning meet

CHALLENGE: Swiss Life, a major European financial services provider, needed to digitize its paper-based consulting experience. More than a UI facelift, this transformation had to make financial planning interactive, trustworthy, and personalized - while streamlining advisor workflows and reducing manual data entry. MY ROLE: As lead designer, I drove end-to-end UX, UI, and visual design, translating research insights into actionable concepts while aligning cross-functional teams. I collaborated with Swiss Life's design team to ensure brand consistency and partnered daily with developers to implement complex data visualizations and new-to-industry features. PROCESS: Our team observed advisor-client sessions and conducted in-depth interviews, uncovering critical friction: customers found the old process passive and hard to follow, while advisors struggled with backend systems and post-meeting admin. I transformed these insights into a tablet-first tool with drag-and-drop planning for life goals, dynamic scenario visualizations, sketching tools for advisor flexibility, and flows supporting both linear and non-linear conversations. I led design critiques, synced daily with developers, and ensured interactions scaled while maintaining Swiss Life's design system standards. SOLUTION: Working closely with Swiss Life's design, development, and brand leadership, we delivered an intuitive tool that balanced advisor efficiency with customer understanding - making complex financial decisions feel transparent and collaborative.
